Lodoicea maldivica Pers.. A double coconut fruit weighing 44lbs (20Kgs) has been recorded, making it probably the world largest plant seed on record. A very large, unarmed, fan palm to about 25m tall. The plant is dioecious, which means it has male and female plants, and the seeds take up to seven years to mature on the plant. Native habitat is the rainforest on two Seychelles islands.
